Kathy E. Barna, President
Kathy E. Barna serves as Community Ties President and has lived in Mt Airy with her husband and children for 17 years. She has her MA from Wesley Theological Seminary and is currently the Minister of Congregational Care at Calvary UMC. Kathy believes God has called her to nurture community relationships through connecting people in need with other community members that can help.
Carmen Hilton, Vice-President
Carmen L. Hilton is the Vice President and Secretary for CTI and has lived in Mount Airy with her husband and two children for 15 years. She currently works at Calvary United Methodist Church also in Mt. Airy as the Office Manager. Carmen has spent 7 years volunteering with youth and younger children and has recently been speaking with women's groups in the area. Her passion and excitement comes through sharing her walk with others as well as hearing theirs.
Rich Stang, Treasurer
Rich Stang is a founding partner of DeLeon & Stang. His specialties include corporate and individual tax issues and planning, estate, investment management and insurance advisory services for businesses and individuals. Rich’s previous experience with several large not-for-profit trade associations in various financial positions has given him valuable insight into helping his clients with their issues.
Debbie Burgio is the founder of Winter Grace Senior Ministries. Born and raised in Maryland, Debbie returned to Maryland 10 years ago after her husband retired from the US Navy. She lives in Dayton, MD with her husband and children. She holds a Master of Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary. Debbie believes she has been called to ministry with Older Adults, leads that ministry at her home church, Mt. Zion UMC, Highland, and seeks to nurture relationships between Older Adults and the resources in the local community.
Emily Dyson serves on the Board of Directors for Community Ties. She has lived in Mt Airy for 45 years. She, her husband and two children have lived in Carroll and Frederick counties. She is a former small business owner and is currently the Director of Science, Research, and Development for a biotechnology company. Emily hopes that her experience with business development and passion for spreading the Gospel is an asset to Community Ties, Inc.
Drew Heck has lived in Mount Airy for 28 years with his wife and children. Drew is a Senior Vice President and the Commercial Lending Manager at New Windsor State Bank. Drew has his BA from McDaniel College and his MBA from Frostburg State University. Drew has served on many non-profit boards over the years in Carroll County and is excited to serve and help with Community Ties’ much needed mission.
Michele Rennolds has been a resident of Mount Airy for 14 years with her husband and 4 young daughters. Michele has a BS and MA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently employed by Calvary United Methodist church as an administrative assistant.
Maureen Stang and her husband Rich have lived in Woodbine, Maryland for 25 years. They have two children and one grandchild. Maureen retired from teaching to engage in volunteer opportunities and has started a small craft business whose purpose is to invest in non-profits serving the local community.
Patrick J. Taylor is a Community Ties board member who grew up in Frederick and has lived in Montgomery County for the past 12 years. Patrick has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland and works as an environmental consultant. Patrick and his wife serve as youth mentors and support a number of community organizations that are working to end hunger and advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
